"We are now in the midst of the first weekend of the Festival. Carol Ann Duffy blessed the festival with her poem Prayer' at our launch and the Mayor, Keith Francis spoke from his heart in a very generous way about all the events he is looking forward to at the Festival.
It was a great way to start. I cannot see everything sadly as there are always many things to do, but today I have managed to see the Lithuanian poets Laima Vince Sruoginis and Marcelijus Martinaitis and it was truly a funny and fascinating event.
It makes me very glad to be doing what I do when I see events like that. Now I am rushing off to see John Agard!"
