ON October 21, I chose to hold a staff male versus staff female netball match.

I decided that it would be for charity; Cancer Research and Royal National Lifeboat Institution, both of which are of personal importance to me.

I started organising the event by sending an e-mail to our Sixth Form enrichment officer, Mrs Underwood-Webb, and together we came up with a few ideas and we decided that the best way to raise lots of money for charity was to set up a netball match.

Next, we had to establish how many competitors wanted to play, so out went a group e-mail. To my surprise, many staff had said yes that they would compete in the match.

Now that the competitors were sorted, posters were put in all registers and around the school to grab spectators’ attention. Then there was the massive task of finding a referee. It wasn’t easy finding one, it was only at the last minute that we managed to find two sixth-form vounteers.

On the day of the match, many spectators turned up to cheer on their favourite teams. The male staff dominated proceedings, winning by a massive total 8-0.

In all we raised over £80 for my chosen charities. I was really pleased with the end result and would like to thank staff for giving up their time to play and to help raise money.
