Last year, in Humanities lessons, we were given the opportunity to meet a group of councillors that were taking part in “I’m a Councillor Get Me Out of Here”.

We asked the councillors questions about what they could improve in Herefordshire and gave our own opinions, then voted for them online depending on what they said.

Each day, one of the councillors was voted off till only one was left and the councillor that was left was Councillor Sally Roberts.

A few months later she visited us again to thanks us for voting for her and what she was planning to do around the local area.

When she had left, we were given the opportunity to write a letter to her, describing what had changed since when she’d first visited us, what we’d enjoyed about the project and what we still wanted to be done in our areas.

She liked our letters enough to offer us the chance to go and have tea, a talk and a tour of Brockington Council Offices.

We went along on April 24 and along with a youth councillor, we told Councillor John Stone and some other councillors what we and our class mates wanted.

We then got a tour around the council offices and received gift vouchers and framed certificates. Then we had our pictures taken with Councillor Sally Robertson and Councillor John Stone. They invited us to a school transport meeting, which we’re going to on September 28, and since then, we have been written to about a film society taking place in the Market Theatre in a few months' time.
