Villagers invited to rural policing meeting

FARMERS and other residents of the rural areas around Ledbury are being invited to a Farmwatch meeting in the hope that the scheme can be further extended in the district.

Farmwatch in the Ledbury area is supported by the Ledbury Rural Local Policing Team and currently covers Colwall, Coddington, Bosbury and Mathon but the group wants to extend this so that there will be a greater exchange of information and intelligence with the local police to better tackle rural crime in the area.

The meeting is to be held at Colwall Village Hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 21 and all are welcome to attend.

Local police officer Debbie Huggins said, "We would particularly like to see people from Eastnor, the Marcles, the Fromes, the Eggletons and Putley areas come to the meeting as we are addressing a slight rise in criminal activity in and around these villages recently.

"We hope that an improved two-way flow of information between local farming/rural communities and the police will produce better informed and protected communities and give the police good intelligence that enables them to reduce and detect crime more efficiently.

"We want to stimulate a greater awareness of what's happening in the area so that people can keep an eye out for suspicious activity and improve their security where appropriate."

If you'd like more information before attending the meeting, please contact the Ledbury Rural Local Policing Team on 0300 333 3000.
