TRUE community participation is promised at Ledbury’s first Big Lunch event, taking place on Sunday, July 19.
A wide cross section of the town is expected to pitch up in the Walled Gardens to enjoy home-cooked food, music and the chance to get to know their neighbours.
Organiser Mary Kidson said: “We hope to have artwork from the nursery children at the Children’s Centre hanging in the trees, a banner made by Ledbury Primary School children and bunting made by senior citizens helping to create the atmosphere. The Ledbury Steel Pans Band, the Wildcat Cheerleaders and a Ledbury Quiz will add to the fun.”
Guests are invited to bring their own food and drink, as well as something to eat off, plastic glasses only, and something to sit on in case chairs run out.
The lunch will run from 12.30pm until 3.30pm and help is also requested for the clean-up operation beginning after the event.
Anyone who can four garden gazebos for the day to put the Steel Pans band under in the case of rain is invited to get in touch.
Anyone interested in attending can book a place by visiting thebiglunch.com, entering their postcode and registering for the Ledbury lunch.
Alternatively they can contact Mrs Kidson by emailing m.kidson60@btinternet.com or by calling 01531 636004.
