Generous donation to fund sports

LEDBURY Women’s Institute has given a cheque for £500 to the Ledbury Youth First group to fund a sports scheme over the summer.

The award followed a talk given by Marianne Campbell to WI about alternative sports. The WI had been collecting the money over the years, from fund raising events including a refreshments table at Ledbury Carnival.

Margaret Shotbolt, Ledbury WI secretary said: “We wanted to give the money to the Ledbury Youth First as we think they are the future, so it is very important.”

The money will fund orienteering, karate and other alternative sports throughout the summer for youngsters from the age of eight to 16.
