PUPILS at Colwall CE Primary School have been learning lessons in an unusual way this week, thanks to a play staged at the school.

Pupils of Year Five, assisted by Year Four, put on The Keymaster, a production about a time traveller who visits various points in history, allowing the young audience to learn painlessly about some great moments of the past.

"It was really quite impressive," said head Paul Chambers. "The central character is a bit like Dr Who, and carries keys that allow him to travel to different times.

"After the children watched it, I told them they'd had an afternoon of history learning, but it wasn't hard work. We're working on a highly creative curriculum here, and we want to do more cross-curricular activities.”

He said the production owed much to the hard work of teachers Suzi Card and Evelyn Knight.
