LEDBURY’S traditional Boxing Day Hunt will be held on Bank Holiday Monday, December 27, this year.
The Boxing Day Hunt is an annual tradition but is moved to the Bank Holiday Monday any year that Boxing Day falls on a Sunday.
Ledbury Hunt Secretary Helen Smith said: “We don’t hunt on Sundays so the Boxing Day Hunt is on December 27. We will be meeting outside The Feathers Hotel in Ledbury at quarter to eleven.”
The hunt meets in the centre of Ledbury on Boxing day each year. Last year around 100 people rode with the hounds and dozens more came out to watch them gather outside the Feathers Hotel.
The Boxing day hunt tradition goes back many years and continues despite the introduction of an ban on fox hunting in 2005. In the last few years the hunt has continued with the hounds following a scent trail instead.
