LOVERS of panto will be pleased to know the season is not quite over with a production of Mother Goose by Much Marcle Amateur Dramatic Society coming up later this month.

The pantomime has been written by a founder member of the group, Danielle Bowers, and will be performed at Much Marcle village hall on Thursday, Febuary 24, Friday, February 25, and Saturday, February 26.

Danielle, 23, has been involved with the MADS since it re-formed in 1993 and having returned from Bangor University she decided to have a go at writing this year’s pantomime and ended up directing it as well.

The group has performed original pantomimes written specially for them in the past and Danielle just wanted to have a go, explained Lynn Bowers, her mum and fellow member of MADS.

Danielle has been directing an enthusiastic cast of 40 adults and children and having failed to find a Mother Goose costume to hire, the group have been busy making their own.

“Everyone has really enjoyed all the preparations and rehearsing,” said Mrs Bowers, adding that the group had been saddened by the recent death of Jeanette Bottomley, a MADS stalwart and founder member, to whom the pantomime performances are dedicated.

“Everyone is determined to make it the very best pantomime they can because the performances are dedicated to Jeanette,” explained Mrs Bowers. The group will be making donations to St Michael’s Hospice and Hereford Hospital in memory of Jeanette.

The group is keen to see a full house for every performance. Tickets, which cost £6 for adults and £3 for children or £15 for a family of four, are available from Much Marcle Stores on 01531 660201. The performances on Thursday and Friday are at 7.30pm and on Saturday there is a matinee at 2.30pm and an evening performance at 7.30pm.
