TWO television channels will be filming at this year’s Bromyard Folk Festival as more than 3,000 people are expected to descend on the town.

The festival, now in its 44th year, will welcome both the History Channel and BBC 4 over the course of next weekend from Friday to Sunday, September 9-11.

BBC 4 will be focusing on the Morris procession and drum workshops on the Friday, while History Channel presenters John Thomson and Simon Day continue the theme on the Sunday by trying Morris dancing as part of their exploration of Britain’s counties.

Organiser Lynne Barker said attracting interest from the channels was huge boost to continuing the festival’s success.

She said: “Tickets are going very well. We are just looking forward to a busy weekend with lots going on. We’re profiling quite highly in the festival scene and we are really trying hard to keep it afloat and keep it going.”

Some of the acts to look out for include Dervish, The Once, Michael McGoldrick, John McCusker and John Doyle and the Martin Simpson Band.

Throughout the weekend there will be music sessions in various pubs, ceildihs, dance displays, craft market and food to cater for all tastes.
