‘Oustanding’ result after our hard work

Pupils celebrate their Ofsted rating. Pupils celebrate their Ofsted rating.

STAFF and children at a Worcestershire school are celebrating after their hard work paid off with a top-level Ofsted inspection.

Suckley Primary School in Church Lane was rated outstanding overall as inspector Jo Curd released the findings from her two-day visit in January.

It was also graded as outstanding for its quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils and leadership and management.

Pupils’ achievement was rated as good, although the inspector noted that it has been rapidly rising and has been of exceptional quality over the last 18 months.

She said that Suckley, which became an academy in August 2011, was “highly inclusive” with an innovative, practical and effective curriculum.

“All groups, including those who have special education needs and those who learn more quickly, achieve well, are extremely well behaved and are very enthusiastic about life and learning,” she said.

The report says that pupils, parents and carers are rightly positive about the standards of teaching at the school, noting that children throughout the academy are “highly stimulated and engaged”.

Teachers quickly identify and special educational needs and ensure that activities are specifically targeted to address them.

Headteacher Matt Meckin is praised for his “outstanding leadership and management” while governors are described as astute, experienced and highly ambitious.

Mr Meckin said the fact that the school was one of the first inspected under the new 2012 Ofsted framework, which has been revised to provide greater challenge, made the accolade even more impressive for Suckley.

“Suckley has been on quite a journey of improvement in recent years. The children, staff, parents and the community have worked so hard to create a school with very special buzz to it,” he said.

“The children’s rapid progress, both academically and pastorally, being recognised at the highest level is testament to their efforts and the overall team ethic that radiates from our school.

“The community certainly has a school to be proud of.”

well done Suckley Primary - hard work has certainly paid off with this result and good that you have actually stated what the ranking was, so there is no room for doubt. Great!
