A MALVERN teenager could find herself in the spotlight of an international beauty pageant after catching the eye while working at a fashion event.
Lian Young, aged 17, of Monksfield Lane, was working for a make-up company during the Clothes Show at Birmingham’s NEC in December when she was spotted by reigning Miss Intercontinental England Stephanie Hodgson.
“I was on a break and she picked me out from the passing crowd and started asking me a bit about myself.” said the former RGS Worcester student, who is studying for a BTEC in theatrical and media make-up.
Now Lian is looking forward to representing Malvern in the UK finals in Manchester, where a panel of judges will choose winners from England, Scotland and Wales to represent their countries on the global stage.
“Although I wouldn’t mind a career in modelling it is not really something I had ever thought about,” she said. “I’m not really bothered about winning, I just think it will be a really fun and interesting experience to be a part of.”
