CHILDREN with a Ledbury pre-school group will start work in the spring on an overgrown wildflower garden on the Town Trail, and take part in a national Royal Horticultural Society campaign.

Busy Bees pre-school, which is based at Ledbury Primary, is joining forces with Ledbury in Bloom for the “Budding Talent”

project.

Manager Emma Davis said: “We are really keen to develop our links with the local community and were delighted when Ledbury in Bloom approached us about adopting the wildflower garden.

“Next term we are starting a new project on growth and development, and this garden will form part of that project.”

The garden was originally created in 2005 by Ledbury in Bloom in conjunction with a number of youth groups and local schools.

Claire Moore of Ledbury in Bloom said: “The garden became overgrown due to the low numbers of volunteers available but we are really happy to support Busy Bees in this exciting new scheme and help them with their RHS, It’s Your Neighbourhood (IYN) application.”

Busy Bees will be one of 1,000 groups from around the UK who will register to do their bit for the local environment.

The group will receive advice and support from the RHS.

The project will start during Busy Bees’ ‘Ledbury in Bloom Week’ from Monday, April 30, to Friday, May 4.

Miss Davis said: ‘We have lots of activities planned including planting wildflowers and some exciting fund-raising opportunities.

“We’re hoping lots of different community groups will visit us over the week to take part”.
