Making the most of Malvern’s theatres
10:00am Monday 16th April 2012 in News
MALVERN Theatres and Malvern Hills District Council will be working closely in the coming months in a bid to build on the benefits that the venue brings to Malvern and its surrounding areas.
Two new working parties have been set up with the aims of boosting visitor numbers to the theatre as well as increasing the impact it has on the local economy, estimated at £17 million in 2010- 11.
The working parties will seek to increase community engagement with the venue, contribute to fund-raising strategies and consider potential capital projects.
Chairman of Malvern Theatres, Robert Maskrey, said: “If local attractions are to be preserved in these difficult times then neither Malvern Theatres nor MHDC can afford to stand alone. Each year, the theatre brings thousands of visitors into the very heart of the district.
Joint strategies can help this number to increase.”
MHDC leader Councillor Philip Grove, said: “It’s our objective to make the most of this asset for many years.”
