Fine threat for failure to pick up dog mess

NEW signs are being put up around Malvern warning dog owners they will be fined if they fail to clean up after their pets.

Street scene officers from Malvern Hills District Council now have the power to issue £75 spot fines to anyone caught allowing their dog to foul.

Signs are being put up in parks and open spaces and Charles Porter, operations manager at the town council, said the fines would be imposed without hesitation.

“It is always the case that as the weather starts to get nicer, people are out and about more and the number of calls we receive about this issue shoots up,” he said. “We decided to try and tackle the issue at source. This venture aims to not only to inform the public of dog fouling regulations, but to enforce them as well.”

Great - but only if the Street Scene Officers actually do get out and patrol...we see lots of dog poo on the pavements but NEVER see anyone from the council. There are clearly 'hotspots' for this type of anti-social behaviour so it shouldn't be too hard to target those areas - should it?

Excreta from dogs are one of the most deplorable actions that pet owners allow their little friends to deposit their dropping anywhere they please.
With more inexcusable behaviour from themselves by just leaving it in situ where the little darlings have deposited their unwanted bowel excavation.
As for allowing dogs (even on leads) on playing field, or parks should be a no-no. We have cats that once were feral, and wandered about looking for food and would scratch on any turned over soil surface to leave their unwanted bye product. We being responsible for feeding these feral cats created a **** loo in our own garden. It is somewhat like a litter tray, but is 5ft. x 3ft x 4ft long. We clean it once a week and ensure the soil is raked even during the winter months we tend this area.
I am afraid that the laws of our land about most lawbreakers are a very weak deterrent. Animal lover in most cases will also clear up after their pets. Unfortunately, animal owners are somewhat different; they let their so-called pets wander allowing them to foul anywhere and at any time.
Signs saying what will happen to the owner. What will be the procedure if a pet decides to go for a stroll on its lonesome, and deposits its faeces, will the Owner be traced and fined? Some Councillors and Officers dream up ideas like signs saying it is illegal for certain things to happen, without thinking through all the problems associated with the enforcement.

You just need to get them to park the street scene van in the appropriate spot when they take their snooze break( i have seen them )

Next time you catch them in the state of slumber take a Photograph of these employees committing this misdemeanour, and send it to the Chief Executive and the Gazette. Alternatively, you can send it to me and I will do the honours.

I trod in some the other day without knowing. I then unknowingly transferred it to my carpet and my 2 year niece liked it up and ate it.
