A CHILDREN'S hospice in Worcester will be turning sunshine into money thanks to the kindness of a Malvern company.
Solar Solutions Malvern, a social enterprise specialising in renewable energy, has just installed solar panels on the roof of the Acorns Children’s Hospice free of charge.
And it is also donating the feedin tariff income, the money from selling excess electricity to the national grid, to the hospice.
Acorns and Solar Solutions Malvern celebrated the installation of the panels with a party yesterday (Thursday).
The gift is worth up to £40,000 to the hospice over the next 25 years.
David McCann, director at Solar Solutions Malvern, said: “One reason for setting up our company was so that we could put something back into the community.
“We invest about 20 per cent of our profits in local good causes.
We think Acorns is very deserving of our support.”
Sue Curry, head nurse at Acorns, said: “Fuel bills are a major cost for us and we’re always looking for ways to help cut them.
“This wonderful gift from Solar Solutions means we know that over the long term we’ll be able to make savings.
