THE latest edition of a book dedicated to the myriad birds and butterflies found around the Malvern Hills is now on the shelves.

Based on the reports and observations of more than 60 experienced birders from the Malvern Bird Group, Birds and Butterflies Around the Malvern Hills documents the 143 different bird species and 53 butterflies and moths that have been spotted in the district over the last 12 months.

As well as providing important environmental health indicators to inform the land management strategies of the Malvern Hills Conservators, the book also feeds into county and national conservation records.

Dudley Brook, chairman of the Malvern Hills Conservators natural history advisory group, said: “A careful look through the pages will surely stimulate an interest in the wonderful variety of nature which surrounds us.”

The book costs £5 and is available from various outlets in Malvern, Upton and Ledbury or by calling 01684 576988 or 01684 565079.
