Is birds’ nest swing to take flight to village?

LEDBURY'S loss looks set to be Much Marcle’s gain, when it comes to the infamous birds’ nest swing on the town’s recreation ground.

Ledbury town councillors are considering giving the muchvandalised and broken swing to Much Marcle Parish Council, having already taken the decision not to repair it again.

The swing has been damaged on several occasions, and on each occasion the town council has paid to have it repaired and put back. Town councillors, at a meeting in the Market House last week, heard that Much Marcle Parish Council had offered to “take the swing off our hands and make good the ground beneath it”.

The town’s environment and leisure committee agreed to recommend to full council that the swing should indeed go to Much Marcle.

The final decision will be taken at the next full town council meeting, on Thursday, June 21.

A photo of the swing would have been nice. I have never heard of a "bird's nest swing," but in looking at a few examples on the internet, I agree with removing it as it looks dangerous and fragile. If it were me, I would put up a horizontal tire swing to replace it. They are practically indestructible and just as fun. Vertical tire swings are even better.
