Volunteers to double efforts as ‘In Bloom’ deadline nears

LEDBURY in Bloom volunteers will be doubling their efforts over the next few weeks as they prepare for their busiest summer ever.

With judges expected on Thursday, July 5, they are only a couple of weeks away from having their hard work assessed for the RHS Britain in Bloom competition.

“The weather has not been on our side this year but we have tried our very best to provide a dazzling display in line with our Going for Gold theme,” said volunteer co-ordinator Claire Moore.

Their efforts are not just being concentrated on Ledbury this year – Ledbury in Bloom has been chosen as one of the community organisations to provide a display when the Queen visits Hereford on Wednesday, July 11.

“We were incredibly honoured to be selected by Allen Conway, the previous mayor, as one of the local organisations who will represent all that’s best about Ledbury in a marquee to be visited by the Queen. It was such a wonderful acknowledgement for all the volunteers that their efforts are appreciated,” said Claire.

Work will now start in earnest on designing and planting some imaginative displays for the marquee, whilst maintaining all the existing planting in and around Ledbury.
