Mtwara visitor is given wall banner
LEDBURY Deanery recently played host to Edith Mwamasimbi, a school inspector from the parish’s “link church”
of St Michael’s in Mtwara, Tanzania.
She was welcomed at a tea party that was attended by deanery and link committee members, and she stayed with a number of local church-goers.
During her visit, she also visited churches and schools, farms and local businesses.
A supper was held at St.
Katherine’s Hall where Edith was presented with a wall banner by the deanery lay co-chairman Ian Beer.
The banner, created by Wendy Greensmith and Amanda Wright, represents features of Ledbury and Herefordshire, to be displayed in the Ledbury Corner of Mtwara Church.
Edith spoke of the importance of the link for Mtwara, providing an opportunity for joint working on various projects.
An altar cloth from Mtwara was presented by Edith to the Rev Paul Dunthorne, to be used in deanery churches as a further reminder of the link.
