Concern over Hereford housing development plan (From Ledbury Reporter)

Well rather than objecting to these much needed houses, I think the councilors efforts would be better served if he tackled the traffic problem head on! First of all try turning the traffic lights off at the Asda roundabout! anyone who lives in Belmont knows that the traffic flows much better when these lights are off! discuss this further at; www.belmontvoice.co.

This proposal is nothing more than "Kite Flying" by a developer with the colusion of an avaricious land owner (who could blame him!).
The proposed scheme site is not in the current UDP nor is it identified in the draft LDF (local development framework)and hence could be considered a load of "old bull" , there appears to have been little attempt in the consultation exercise to demonstrate how the developer will deal with the water and sewage issues nor with the pollution issues caused by the extra traffic to be generated etc let alone the siting of the weirdest access point to a housing site in living memory !
The developer in the "advertising literature" makes reference to the vast areas of the site which will be given over to "public open space" , however when challenged they could give no undertaking to "donate " this land to the community through a trust or similar vehicle to preserve it for community use - there's a suprise! (but not if you want to come back for more houses later on I think!)
This proposal seeks to use the current unresolved LDF and use the NPPF (national planning policy framework) to get a quick win , let us hope our planners have the willpower and resolve to treat this opportunistic bull with the contempt it deserves !
Now I am worried , relying on our planners to get it right first time , oh well travel in hope!
