Our Olympics were a bit different

WEST Malvern residents celebrated their own sporting excellence when they held their Olympicnic at the Elim College.

Despite a very wet and windy start to the day, it went well, with about 350 people attending.

The children from St James’ Primary School made colourful costumes to represent countries competing in the Olympics, and paraded to the venue carrying their own torch.

Anna Brook, one of the organisers, said: “It was a real community day with people coming together for a proper bit of village fun.

“Whilst the children represented the Olympic spirit well, there was a fair amount of cheating among the adults, especially in the water-carrying races, and the wife-carrying race caused much hilarity.”
