Opening garden for second year

A PICTURESQUE garden in Malvern Wells is set to open as part of the National Garden Scheme.

The garden at 21 Woodfarm Road is described as a “small plantswoman’s garden” and features a wide range of hardy herbaceous perennials and shrubs, many of which have coloured foliage.

There are sunny borders, shady damp areas, a stumpery with ferns and a raised blue and yellow bed.

The quarter-acre garden is owned by Jill and Dave Briggs, who opened it as part of the scheme for the first time last year and were delighted to welcome 250 visitors, raising more than £1,000 in the process. Mrs Briggs said: “We’re hoping we can get a similar response this year.”

The garden will be open from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, July 14-15, and admission costs £2.50 (children free).

It is just off the B4209, close to the junction with the A449 Wells Road, and anyone attending is advised to wear flat shoes as there are steps and a grassy slope.
