Book fair is to be repeated

THE first-ever book fair at the Swan at Newland, organised by Aspect Design, was such a success that another one is being planned.

The fair featured the launch of several new books, including None More Brave by Cradley author John Handley, the inside story of Isle of Man TT legend Wal Handley, and The Artful Bodger, co-edited by John Bradshaw, of Guarlford, a collection of ingenious fixes for emergency motoring problems.

To coincide with the launches, a large number of vintage cars and motorcycles assembled at the Swan.

Some of these came from as far away as Dorset and Cornwall to attend the event.

Aspect partner Sue Smith said: “We have run local authors’ days for a number of years, but when we were offered the use of the Swan for the afternoon, we decided to broaden the event to include both new and secondhand book stalls.”

Anyone interested in a space at the next event in early September should call 01684 561567.
