Food and drink fest is hailed a success

THE Ledbury Food and Drink Festival, held in conjunction with the Ledbury Poetry Festival was a hit on Sunday.

Twenty-one stalls offered local produce, from award winning cider and perry to Indian food, brownies, apple juice, organic vegetables, local cherries and ice cream.

Butcher Paul Gurney ran a sausage tasting competition and members of the public were asked to vote for their favourite sausage.

His black pudding sausage was the people’s choice with Llandinabo’s apple sausage and Noggin Farm plain sausage as runners-up.

Rachel Hicks, of Just Rachel, who organised the event, said: “Although the numbers on the day were lower than last year, due to the weather forecast and the tennis, everyone seemed to have a really good time.”
