Rotary cash for blind college

LEDBURY Rotary Club has presented a cheque of £9,500 to the Hereford Royal National College for the Blind.

The money was handed over recently by the outgoing president Tony Knight to Sheila Tallon, college principal, who praised the club’s efforts, and also thanked the public for their donations.

Mr Knight spoke about his son Andrew, who is registered blind.

He said: “He has been an inspiration to all and it is with a great sense of pleasure, pride and privilege knowing that the monies raised will help others at the college.”

Fund-raising activities had included street collections, barn dances, a fireworks evening, helping out at the steam rally, the Ledbury Carnival and many other events, including the Eastnor Extravaganza.
