FINGERS CROSSED: The Ledbury in Bloom team has high hopes as it awaits the judges’ verdict on Thursday.
LEDBURY in Bloom team members have their fingers crossed for a great result at the Heart of England in Bloom Awards.
The volunteers are hoping the ceremony on Thursday will see them awarded with a sixth successive Gold Award.
“Our Going for Gold theme seemed to go down well with the judges when they visited in July and we had increased the number of planting schemes throughout the town, many of which are still looking good despite unseasonal weather,”
said co-ordinator Claire Moore.
The judges were also impressed with the number of other voluntary groups and organisations who take part in the Ledbury in Bloom entry. “It was wonderful to take them to see new projects and they were excited to hear about our plans to engage the community through our Diamond Award and Team Jubilee projects which are open until November,” said Ms Moore.
Certificates of achievement will be delivered to the winners of the Roundabout, Garden and Business Premises competition.
Ms Moore said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers and the organisations which support Ledbury in Bloom.
“It is a real community effort and everyone who was involved should feel very proud, whatever the result next week.”
