Murder trial date

A computer firm manager accused of attempting to murder his former wife and her new partner in Ledbury is set to stand trial in April next year.

A leading QC has now been engaged to represent Peter Mason, aged 58, of Newark, Nottinghamshire, defending counsel Julian Harris told Worcester Crown Court.

Mason is accused of the offence on Sunday, July 1, which left Deborah Mason and Michael Longden with multiple stab wounds outside their home in the Homend, Ledbury.

Mr Harris said he was prepared to have the custody time limit extended until the trial, which has now been scheduled to start on April 1.

Mason is due back in court on Monday when he is expected to enter a plea.
