Railway through Colwall reopens after repairs
RAIL services beween Great Malvern and Hereford have been resumed following repair work at Colwall.
A hole appeared in the track on Monday morning when a clay pipe collapsed following heavy rain. Network Rail engineers worked overnight on Monday and Tuesday to solve the problem.
Engineers have imposed a 20mph speed restriction on the line while they monitor the repairs. Normal line speed is 70mph.
The first train service to use the line this morning was the 4.29am Hereford-Ledbury service, which arrived at Ledbury three minutes early.
Network Rail is expecting to operate full services today, although the line will be monitored until further notice to see if the ballast moves before re-introducing normal line speeds.
