Dog wardens

LEDBURY Town Council has moved one step closer to putting dozens of volunteer community dog wardens on local streets.

Town clerk Karen Mitchell said an informal meeting was soon to be advertised, on a date still to be agreed, for people interested in taking part in the anti-fouling project.

She said: “There will then be a training course, and they’ll be given armbands and notebooks, and then they’ll be let loose on the public.”

Town councilors have been impressed by reports of a successful scheme that has been running successfully in Ross-on-Wye this year.

The news of impending Dog Wardens on Ledbury's streets sounds promising but I would love to know what their brief and powers will be. My Wife and I currently live in Beaminster in Dorset and are hoping to move to Ledbury or Ross. One of the dislikes we have for this town is the antisocial behaviour of dog owners and their mutts. We can only dream of living someplace where the noise and disgusting mess of these hairy fiends are a distant memory, and the dogs are just as bad!

Sorry to hear of your bad experiences with canines, Mickey. Hope you don't feel the same way about ducks if you're planning to re-locate, otherwise me and my family may have to go into hiding.
