Parent fines

LEDBURY parents who take their children out of school during term time for holidays could find themselves being fined, without prior warning.

The county’s Education Welfare Service has changed its procedures regarding leave taken in term time and, from next week, it will not longer send out warnings of financial penalties.

Any unauthorised leave could result in a £50 fine.

The rule applies to all Herefordshire schools under LEA control, and Ledbury Primary School has already issued notice that the changes will be in place and enforced.
