Council’s value for money
1:20pm Friday 28th September 2012 in News
INDEPENDENT auditors have given Herefordshire Council a clean bill of health for its 2011/12 financial accounts and its ability to provide value for money.
On Friday, the council’s audit committee received the accounts, along with the Audit Commission’s assessment of its financial and governance arrangements.
Coun Philip Price, cabinet member for corporate services, said: “It’s good news for the people of Herefordshire that once again we have delivered unqualified accounts and have in place effective arrangements.
“The Audit Commission has also recognised the change delivered by the council as we tackled government funding reduction and successfully set up Hoople, our joint venture company that employs former council staff.”

You dont have to be silent. You can question the decisions that are made by these people who are extremely well rewarded for their badly thought out gimmicks, decisions and chaotic plans that are destroying your future.
Stand up. Organise yourselves and object.
I promise you all one single thing. These Councillors and Council leaders all have huge ego's. They love reading about themselves and they will be reading these Postings.
You have to discover the old you and say in these Postings, 'This is wrong and I am not satisfied' or, if you choose, 'I love it and want more of the same thank you very much'.
Stop being frightened to say anything and stop feeling, 'I cant be bothered. They'll do what they want anyway'.
Come on Ledbury. Rock my socks off and say something even if it's, 'be gone with you bobby47. We in Ledbury are just fine and dandyho.'

As to the council giving value for money, what has this been judged against with them planning to cut youth funding by 80%, trying to strip those who need it of council tax benefit, foisting off loss making items to local council level (which will probably mean an increase in council tax), unable to provide decent ambulance cover for the county (I heard we have 4 ambulances to cover the whole county), looking to close local police stations, not paying for the cutting of grass verges and still they want to pay the mayors more money .. sorry but this is just so wrong, more so in this time of people having to tighten their belts. Fuel poverty has increased from 7% in 2005 to 17% in 2011 with the outlook being grim. The DECC report makes even worse reading with them setting the fuel poverty level at 27% one of the highest rates of any English county .. If you want respect Councillors then stand up and refuse any increase in expenses.

I'm guessing your banging your head against some wall.
Folks at Ledbury, the journalist who took the trouble to write this piece, get it through the editor, print it and sell it, thought it newsworthy.
Come on say something. This is about your Towns future.

This is a 'bag of rats'.Our democracy in Hereford cost you and I over 680K and still they want to suckle at the teet of the public funds and have more to feast upon.
There's no end to their greed and theres no end to the deception that now paints this accountancy report as a great piece of news for the Herefordshire taxpayer.
