Not guilty pleas

A 58-year-old computer firm manager has denied attempting to murder his former wife and her new partner in Ledbury.

Peter Mason also pleaded not guilty to two charges of wounding with intent at the same address in The Homend, Ledbury, on Sunday, July 1, this year.

A leading QC has been engaged to represent Mason, of Newark, Nottinghamshire, at his trial in April next year.

He denies attempting to murder Deborah Mason and Michael Longden. He also denies wounding with intent to cause them grievous bodily harm and a further charge of having an offensive weapon, namely a knife, outside their home.

Prosecutor Jonas Hankin asked Worcester Crown Court for the custody time limit to be extended from January 1.

Julian Harris, defending, said he did not object.
