Man banned from 5,421 Herefordshire homes back in court
6:20pm Saturday 13th October 2012 in News
A MAN who is banned from entering more than 5,400 homes in Herefordshire has narrowly escaped being sent to jail after he was found inside a propery from which he is excluded.
Shane White and Christian Llewellyn are the first people in the county to be prohibited from entering so many Herefordshire Housing (HH) owned properties.
The pair were banned in July this year when HH secured an anti-social behaviour injunction on the grounds that White and Llewellyn’s behaviour – including making threats and threatening to use the housing association properties for dealing drugs – put its tenants at risk.
This week Herefordshire Housing confirmed that convicted drug dealer White was arrested on August 22 after entering a property in the Newton Farm area of Hereford. It was just one of the thousands of properties from which he was banned.
Within a few minutes of him being at the property, the association received “several telephone calls from vigilant residents”
and White was arrested for breaching the injunction.
At Worcester County Court the next day, he pleaded guilty to breaching the order.
The judge sentenced him to four weeks in prison suspended for the next 11 months.
Paula Kennedy, director of customer services at Herefordshire Housing, said: “This is another example of the community working directly with us and the police to get rid of unwanted behaviour.
“Our properties are some of the most popular in the county and the community has confidence in us to act accordingly, ensuring our neighbourhoods remain safe and popular.
“Mr White and Mr Llewellyn continue to be banned from entering most of our properties, so if anyone sees them entering properties they know to be owned by Herefordshire Housing, they should continue to report it to the police on 101 and our Neighbourhood Action Team on 0300 777 4321.”
The injunction, granted at Hereford County Court in July, forbids White and Llewellyn from going inside 5,421 of HH’s 5,800 properties, as well as HH offices in Holmer, Newton Farm and Widemarsh Street, Hereford.
