Kings Acre Road roadworks could run for five months

MOTORISTS using a popular road into Hereford face five months of roadworks.

Welsh Water is upgrading its county network as part of a £300,000 investment scheme to ensure a more reliable service.

Work is due to start on Kings Acre Road in Hereford this month and is scheduled to take place until March.

Welsh Water’s area distribution manager Kevin Bateman said: “We have liaised with Herefordshire Council’s highways department to agree the traffic measures necessary to enable us to get the job done safely and quickly, while also keeping traffic moving and avoiding excessive delays.

“We’ll be using temporary traffic lights and will also suspend work during December to allow for extra seasonal traffic.”

Water!. We are ok for water. Water we've got and lots of it. More than we need for much of the time. Often we get it where we dont want it. No...dont do this to us. Dont be digging up Kingsacre Road because that'll bring each and every yard of traffic in the City to a standstill.
December you say! Give us October, November and another twelve months after that.
For Gods sake, have pity on us.

When they finish we can then look forward to 74 weeks of cycle lane work in Whitecross Road.

I really don't know why we settle for the horribly cheap piped stuff. We should only buy bottled just like the council. I'm already readjusting my household budget to do this. So far I've managed to cut out nappies, baby milk, most food stuffs and I've got rid of Sky, phone, broadband, electricity and gas so that I can afford the £12k they spent on water last year. Cos let's face it, of the council can't be expected to drink lowly tap water, what should I?
