Produce fair is a huge success

ORGANISERS of last Saturday’s Poultry and Produce Fair at the Trumpet Inn, near Ledbury, are hailing it as a great success, promising more to come.

Fiona Whittle, market spokeswoman, said: “We were pleased with the turnout of sellers and buyers and we will be there again, from noon until 3pm tomorrow (Saturday).

“The weather was excellent, and sellers enjoyed a brisk trade in ducks and chickens, eggs, poultry accessories and feed, cottage garden plants and fresh produce, crafts and other items, even though the event had to compete with Malvern show running on the same day.”

“Several traders even managed to attend both events in one day.”

Mrs Whittle, of Hey Little Hen, hopes to expand the event over the forthcoming weeks, providing a regular ‘trading post’ for small-scale producers, growers, farmers and craftspeople.

She said: “It was nice to be able to chatter away to one another in the sunshine, share ideas and advice, sell our goods and then adjourn to the comfort of the Trumpet’s bar for a cool, rewarding pint when it was all over.”
