Herefordshire can 'lead Britain out of recession', says employer

HEREFORDSHIRE can show Britain a way out of recession being in “pole position” to attract new companies and career opportunities, a leading local recruiter says this week.

Stuart Blake of Rotherwas based DRS was speaking ahead of the major business seminar his company is next week targeting the development, attraction and retention of talent in the county.

“Whilst other parts of the country continue to suffer, with little chance of improvement, Herefordshire is in pole position to benefit from new companies coming to the county offering new, varied and inspirational career opportunities,” said Mr Blake.

“We have now to ensure that solid building blocks are in place in order that individuals and companies can maximise their potential - that will take planning and innovation as well as damned hard work,” he said .

DRS are hosting the seminar - backed by allpay, Kidwells, Hereford Futures and the Hereford Times - at Kidwells, Rotherwas next Thursday (Oct 18).

“This should be every responsible employers focus, it is vital is for each employer to be in a position to attract the best talent to the county and to retain our talent in the area - keeping the Herefordshire pound in Hereford - I hope that all employers take the opportunity to join us on the 18th October,” said Mr Blake.

“There are challenges around training and development that we all need to share. As we come out of the longest recession in my memory, it would be foolhardy if companies do not make the most of a change in market conditions because of a lack of resource planning and resource management,” he said.

Oh Stuart! What a lovely bloke you must be. How I wish I could join you in your shiney, happy, clappy world.
I'm about to give you a kicking and I know, deep down that I shouldn't, its wrong and its good people like you that should be encouraged to pipe your deluded mantra of 'Here We Can'.
Here I go Stu'ey....Putting to one side the clear evidence that we've no jobs, few shops, no infra structure to speak of, no flood defences, the presence of the Giant Huntsman Spider which scares the life out of me, no sane democratic system, a Council who are as mad as me and our greatest asset is processing chicken and growing fruit, what on Gods Good Earth gives you reason to be so foolishly optimistic. Its ,madness Stu'ey and I can only assume that you've harvested in a killo of Magic Mushrooms and you were feasting upon them when you stepped forward to make your claim that, here, in Hereford, we can lead our nation out of recession.
I really hate and despise myself for being so blunt and frank with you but truthfully, no my dear optimistic friend, we are not going to lead Britain out of recession. It aint going to happen. The only thing that will change the course of our Hereford history is if some good soul strikes gold.
My very warmest regards Stuart.

Who are all these new companies and where and when are they coming. The thing is how long can any one hang on waiting for jobs to appear when quite clearly there are none around.
Can I please have one of these jobs, pretty please !

Thanks silentbull, I see!.....Ive got it. These, therefore, are the words of a man who's working life is steeped in Managemernt Speak, Buzz Words and phrases like, 'I'm Passionate' and 'Im Driven to Deliver'. Thats you is'nt it Stuart? A man driven passionately to deliver. (I dare say your pretty passionate about a little contract that may come your way via the Council)
Advice Stuart.... If you set yourself up as a leader of men and women, its very important you hook their attention. By saying that Hereford can lead Britain out of the recession is an immeadiate problem area for you. If you aint sure in the future, keep your mouth shut. That way, you wont be the subject to ridicule by cynics like me.
My warmest regards Stuart.

oh dear.....Im guessing Stuart is new to Hereford.
I must admit I dont know to much about
Define Risk Solutions (DRS), but think if his company has anything to do with Hereford Council there will be MASSIVE risks!

Seriously, the quote, 'Hereford Can lead Britain out of recession'.
Its madness! Its as though the entire business and public service community have been infected by some disease that affects the thought process'es and subsequent construction of a sentence that has any meaning. They may as well make Latin their language.
Its crazyness and this guy Stuart has emerged as Herefords Champion of Drivel and Pointless Speak. He'll stand there during his presentation to the business leaders and spout this mantra of HERE WE CAN. He'll enthuse them all with his positive can do attitude, they'll suck it up like thirsty lemmings and then...............N
othing.
The real tragedy is that he's a recruiter which means he interviews applicants, which means the applicant will have to think and speak in exactly the same way. And it goes on. An entire generation of idiots talking twaddle.
I'm done. I'm going back to bed and cozy up to a diazepam.

Sounds like he's been fed the same concoction of drugs HC are currently taking! What a tool...I've never heard so much hogwash...oh except HC's decision to close the bogs and Hereford Futures weed excuse when Merton Meadow flooded.

Bobby, send the man some diazepam so he can chill the f**k out a little ;)

Great news! We are to lead the country out of recession - which country? I heard a suggestion that the council will consider re-placing the new welcome signs to the county after we are renamed Maybefordshire.

I've been researching this guy's antecedant history and its impressive. In fact, its very impressive and I have also discovered through a source, that I wont disclose, that this chaps heart is in the right place and he wants to help Hereford and our younger kids to get jobs. It seems that our Stuart wants to help Hereford. Which means I was wrong.
Now, I'm full of firey rhetoric, thunder and a great deal of tripe and drivel and I know that when you've got something wrong, you have to appologise.
To this guy, I appologise.....mind the statement, 'Hereford can lead Britain out of recession' is still a crazy claim.

I am told that the Government gives grants to businesses/factories to open in Wales and the West Midlands, what chance has Hereford got with it's terrible road system A49 continually having closures or hold-ups. Ross has a better chance of attracting investment with Moat Farm designated for Industrial development and the M50 and excellent road system to S Wales,
I have not heard of any Industrial development on this site yet,
