Riverside eyesore goes on sale for £900,000
4:40pm Friday 12th October 2012 in News By Paul Broome
A DEVELOPER is being sought to transform one of Hereford’s ugliest eyesores - the former Campions restaurant.
The old restaurant next to the city's Greyfriars Bridge has been empty since closing in the 1990s, often attracting anti-social behaviour.
Just before Christmas last year permission was granted to demolish the building and replace it with 14 apartments over five floors. The site would be on stilts because of flood risk next to the River Wye.
City estate agency Russell, Baldwin and Bright is now overseeing the sale of the site.
A guide price of £900,000 will buy a developer the land and associated planning permission.
The development is also set to boast a hi-tech advance warning system alerting residents to move their cars should flood waters advance.
