Gloucester Cathedral half-term events
10:58am Friday 12th October 2012 in News
Gloucester Cathedral is taking part in The Big Draw once again during October half term. It is the world’s biggest celebration of drawing and has grown into a month-long festival throughout October all over the UK.
On Thursday 27 and Friday 28 October 10.30am-3.30pm the whole family can get creative. Clipboard, paper and pencil will be provided and everyone encouraged to draw their favourite part of the Cathedral.
In past years dozens of families have come in to spend an hour or so looking at the architecture of the Cathedral and being inspired to draw.
Younger visitors can take the Teddy Trail with Brother Edward Bear who will guide them around the building.
Up in the Gallery, families can try their hand at completing the giant stained-glass-window jigsaw featuring King Edward II, play ‘I-spy’ or complete the Gallery Gazer’s Guide. Have fun dressing up as a Bishop, try on a Mitre (a Bishop’s hat) and sit in a Bishop’s chair.
Parents should beware of the Whispering Gallery where children can eavesdrop on them standing on the other side of the cathedral!
Gloucester Cathedral’s regular monthly lunchtime organ recital falls into the half term holiday this month.
