UPDATE: Fisherman found safe and well following appeal

A FISHERMAN who abandoned his equipment on a bank in Hereford has been found safe and well.

Police carried out a search of the riverside behind Bartonsham Farm, off Green Street, yesterday (Thursday) afternoon following reports that expensive fishing equipment - set up as if it was in use - had been deserted for more than 24 hours.

The mystery was reported by a member of Hereford and District Angling Association who was concerned that a fisherman might be in trouble.

But Detective Sergeant Tim Powell has confirmed that the fisherman has been found safe and well and he abandoned his equipment by the river when it started to rain.
