Car workers' charity walk
5:20pm Tuesday 16th October 2012 in News
TWO members of staff from the Morgan Motor Company were among the first to sign up for the annual walk in the Malvern Hills to raise cash for Cancer Research UK.
Caroline Gudgeon and Sarah Baldwin will be among hundreds taking part in the walk tomorrow (Saturday).
The annual walk, organised by the Malvern branch of the charity, is now in its 14th year.
It has raised more than £85,000 so far and this year organisers are hoping to break the £100,000 milestone.
Ms Gudgeon said: “I lost my dad to cancer, and earlier this year we lost a colleague, Brian Marks, who worked at Morgan’s for eight years.
“We have also had employees who have had cancer and thanks to the work of Cancer Research UK they have been treated and are doing well.
“Joining this sponsored walk seemed an appropriate way to remember those we have lost and do something positive for the future and support those who are undergoing treatment.”
The walk starts between 10am and 11am and offers a choice of a 3.6-mile or a 11-mile route.
