Firefighters put at risk by members of the public while fighting a blaze in Hereford
12:07pm Tuesday 16th October 2012 in News By Lydia Johnson
A LEADING fire officer has spoken of the ‘devastating consequences’ that could have occurred after members of the public twice disconnected a hose from a hydrant as emergency teams fought a blaze in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said a hydrant was disconnected on two occasions by members of the public as fire fighters battled to put out a fire that left a first floor flat above shops in Church Street, Hereford, gutted.
West Mercia Police are investigating the incident as obstructing firefighters is an offence.

I hope the perpetrators are caught and punished to the full extent of the law.

Sometime ago I was having this very discussion with several colleagues at the source of Yazor Brooke. We are an association, that studies the mating habits of the Natterjack Toad. We are Toad Sexer's. It's a practice banned in much of the United States but, thankfully remains legal here in Hereford.
Anyway, after a confrontation with a particularly aggressive territorial male Toad, I suddenly decided to leave and burn down my house. It was an impulse as much as anything.
En route home I quickly acquired fifty bales of hay, two hundred gallons of petrol and a clipper lighter.
Upon arrival at my house, that I intended to burn down, I began frantically to transfer my illicit cargo into the dwelling when, my Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator (aka Curtain Twitcher) poked her bloody nose into my deranged scheme and said, 'Are you going to burn down your house?', to which I replied, 'Not now'.
There was a point to this tale but I've forgotten what it was, other than to say, dont burn down your house.

Pesky Neighbourhood Watch, always messing with a man's plans...
That said, I agree with Billyb83, Littlewhitebull and Lukio, they are total idiots who deserve some pain! But would probably cry and say that the mean old fire & rescue bods were right mean bullies... Bless...
