New homes for Lyonshall

EIGHT new homes can be built in Lyonshall after the region won a share of £1.3 million.

The Goverment has given money to five community-led schemes in north Herefordshire and south Shropshire to boost affordable housing in the Marches.

Community Land Trusts are schemes where parish and town councils work with local housing associations to ‘hold’ parcels of land in a non-profit trust.

This ensures it can be rented or sold at affordable rates because the price does not have to reflect the market value of the land.

  • Meanwhile, Herefordshire Council’s review into allocation of affordable housing ended on October 1.

The results, and any changes to the way social housing is handed out, should be unveiled later this year.
