Over the limit

A DRINK-driver got behind the wheel after the funeral of a close friend reminded him of the deaths of his parents.

Paul Spilsbury, aged 38, was stopped driving his Honda Accord in Richmond Road, Malvern, after police became suspicious about his driving, the second time he has been stopped for drink driving in the last decade.

A breath test produced a reading of 59mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the drink drive limit of 35mcg.

Spilsbury of Dey Croft, Warwick, admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared before magistrates.

He was banned from driving for three years but offered a course which he must complete by November 2014 and which will reduce the length of his ban by nine months.

He was also fined £500 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
