PREDICTIONS of doom and gloom for Bromyard’s traders have been brushed aside by two businesses set to open in the town this August.

With a continued economic downturn being blamed for empty shop fronts along Bromyard’s main streets, Jason and Jackie Young have bucked the trend by giving the town back its travel services.

They launched Bromyard Travel Services on Saturday (August 2) with mayor Jonathan Lester cutting the ribbon.

Mr Young, who used to manage Status Travel, Bromyard, before it closed, said: “Since we were made redundant we got the plans in motion to open up a new travel store. We just decided to go for it.

“We had no apprehension in setting up the new business and have had fantastic support from everyone.”

Meanwhile mother and daughter osteopaths Clare and Michelle Davies will launch their complementary health centre on Saturday, August 30.

The Osteopathy and Natural Therapy Centre, based in Old Road, will offer treatments including hypnotherapy, counselling, reflexology, aromatherapy and acupuncture.

Clare, who lives in Bromyard, believes it will be a unique business in the town.

She said: “There are none like ours in the town because we will be offering monthly free talks, running workshops and free consultations with various practitioners.”

Chairman of the town’s Chamber of Commerce, Brian Johnson, welcomed the new arrivals.

He said: “We wish them both great success with their ventures and I’m sure they will go from strength to strength.

“We’ve been going through a bad patch at the moment so let’s hope this is the start of a little revival.”
