BROMYARD’S town crier Peder Nielsen has something to shout about after taking joint sixth place in an international competition.
He bellowed against some of the best in the world from countries including Bermuda, America, Finland and Germany during the contest in Almelo, Holland, last weekend.
He said: “This was my first international and it went very well indeed. There were 45 criers in total and with some of them coming as far as America, they really wanted to win something.”
The competition consisted of several rounds in which Mr Nielsen would have to shout for the judges about various subjects, including his home town.
He said: “The ‘home shout’ was done on a barge in the canal, and the key was to promote the town as much as possible.
“I mentioned the cider orchards and the people and the fact it was a market town with black and white buildings.”
