LEARN more about shops and shopping in Bromyard during a series of five illustrated meetings.

The Bromyard and District Local History Society is holding the course, entitled ‘Shops, Shopping and the Street Scene’, at the Local History Centre in Sherford Street from 2-3.30pm on Mondays, starting on September 29.

The course will focus mainly on the market towns of Herefordshire, using street plans to demonstrate how market rows developed into permanent shops.

Changes in retail practice over the years will also be explored, and everyone will be encouraged to take to the streets and seek out for themselves old shop fronts of all periods.

The course is open to all, and enrolment forms are available from the Local History Centre, by calling Marnie Caine on 01886 884229, or emailing marnie.caine@virgin.net.
