BROMYARD town councillor Ian Handley has resigned from the council due to work commitments.
The councillor, who works for Guide Dogs for the Blind, travels around the West Midlands and felt this prevented him from representing the electorate to the best of his ability.
Town council clerk Mike Cresswell said: “We’re quite sad that he has had to resign because he was a very good councillor and very conscientious.”
Mr Handley had been a member since May 2007 and had been on the council’s planning committee.
Herefordshire Council has been notified of the resignation and proceedings will now begin to fill the position through an election.
