AN expectant mother from Bromyard says she is afraid that a busy road junction could endanger the life of her baby.
Claire Beale, from Linton Court, regularly visits her parents who live on the junction of York Road and Old Road and believes that parked cars pose a danger by blocking her view.
She said: “When I’m pulling out from York Road, I have to edge out slightly and then hold my breath that nothing’s coming.
“If anything is coming, you either have to speed up and get out of their way quickly or hope there’s nothing behind you so you can reverse backwards.
Miss Beale, whose baby is due in November, worries that it is an accident waiting to happen.
“My baby will be in the front passenger seat and will get hit before I do. This is of major concern to me.”
Miss Beale believes the introduction of yellow lines to prevent cars parking too close to the junction, or a mirror placed opposite, would greatly improve safety for motorists.
She contacted Herefordshire Council with her concerns which, under the directives of a new parish initiative, passed the matter to Bromyard and Winslow Town Council.
Town council clerk Mike Cresswell confirmed he would be talking with police and Herefordshire Council to find a solution to the problem.
Herefordshire Council was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
