AN intrepid fund-raiser has raised more than £200,000 for charity following his final donation.
Keith Lane, from Bromyard, concluded his Flight for Life appeal for Midlands Air Ambulance on Wednesday (February 2) with a £6,829 donation. He has raised £208,000 for the charity over the last 18 years and is now entering his fund-raising “retirement”.
Alison Blakeway, events and volunteer coordinator for Midlands Air Ambulance, said: “The support that Keith and his family have shown towards Midlands Air Ambulance is outstanding. His fund-raising achievements are truly incredible and I would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of everyone at the charity.”
The local community has donated to Mr Lane’s appeal through his Midlands Air Ambulance account at the Nationwide Building Society in Bromyard but the account has now been closed as fund-raising has become more of a struggle since he suffered a stroke in 2009.
Mr Lane was acknowledged for his fund-raising efforts in 2002 when he was awarded an MBE.
